Judy Gutierrez was born in Marin County, California. As early as age 5, she began to express her interest in the arts when she painted her first oil painting. After exploring pencil, pastel, watercolor, oil, lapidary, jewelry making, sewing, ceramics, and batik, she began teaching all media while in high school. When commissioned by one of her instructors to design a wall hanging for a residence, she discovered her passion for interior spaces. After she received her Bachelors of Fine Art in Interior Design from Long Beach State University, she began her career as a Commercial Interior Designer in Los Angeles. In 1988 she and her husband established an architectural and interior design firm. Together they focused on commercial, retail, and educational project types for 10 years. After her sons were born, Judy chose to work part time and eventually transitioned to community work. She served on the Vejar Community Club Board as president and community outreach coordinator, as well as served as a Silent Auction Fundraising Chair for Brea United Methodist Preschool.
Judy began focusing on fine art photography after certification from Tri Community Adult Education Photography School.
Nature’s allure, tranquility, and grace motivate her as a photographer, artist and designer. Capturing emotion, light, color, sound and abstract composition intrigue her. She seeks to enrich interior environments in a way that transforms spaces and inspires people.
Currently, Judy serves on the Pomona Valley Art Association Board of Directors as well as manages The PVAA Art Place. She has rediscovered all art Medias and continues her fine art photography.
